A Leap in the Dark

A Leap in the Dark is my first full-length furry story. It tells the story of of the towns of Oakwood and Sandbourne, on opposite banks of the River Haven yet divided by much more than a stretch of water. More specifically, it tells the story of Leyland, a lapine teacher who rebels against oppressive vulpine rule, and the foxes who risk everything to go against their own kind in fighting for a just society. There is of course much more to it than that, some of which may even be a little less clichéd, but synopses have never been my strong point, so you'll have to make do with one paragraph for now. =:P

The story so far...

Photographs

Photography is a relatively new but increasingly popular pastime in the Haven Valley, and as well as the obvious interest from the press and police, people are starting to produce and sell picture postcards. The available technology is still fairly primitive, so pictures are monochrome and somewhat rough in appearance, but they help give an insight into the general character of the area.

Streetmap

One of the best ways to get across the sort of a place in which the story takes place is to show you a map. So I've drawn one, a tiny version of which you can see above. =:) However, the full-size map is extremely large, so I've decided to give you the choice of looking at rather smaller versions instead. If you want to get the best out of it, then you will indeed need the full-scale map, but the others are good enough for "at-a-glance" reading. You'll probably find it easiest (especially with the largest map) to save it to disk rather than try to study it in your browser window. North is at the top, by the way - at some point I may conceivably add an indication of this to the map itself, but it may well be more work than it's worth; I have my limits!
